The Baltimore Blast hosted the Syracuse Silver Knights on Friday night in an eastern divisional showdown. In the second matchup of the weekend between the teams the Blast were defeated by the Silver Knights 7-2.
The game got off to a fast start with five goals recorded in the opening quarter. Jonatas Melo recorded the first goal of the game off an assist from Adriano Dos Santos to give the Blast the lead. At the 8:04 mark Jerjer Gibson recorded the first Syracuse goal. Andrew Hoxie would answer for the Blast with his 12th goal of the season assisted by Jamie Thomas. Before the end of the quarter the Silver Knights would strike for back to back goals from Kenardo Forbes and Joey Tavernese. At the end of the first the Blast trailed 3-2.
Despite outshooting Syracuse 12-2 in the second quarter the Blast offense could not find the back of the net. Slavisa Ubiparipovic recorded the only goal of the quarter and at the half the Silver Knights led 4-2.
Only :30 seconds into the third quarter the Silver Knights would score again with a goal from Moises Gonzalez. This was the only goal of the quarter as the Blast entered the final quarter trailing 5-2.
At the 9:22 mark of the final quarter Jerjer Gibson recorded his second goal of the game for the Silver Knights. Later in the quarter Kenardo Forbes would record his second goal of the game and put an end to the Blast comeback hope. At the final buzzer the Blast were defeated 7-2.
The Blast were led by Jonatas Melo and Andrew Hoxie who recorded the only Blast goals of the night.
The Blast will hit the road for two games next weekend. Friday, February 24th the Blast will be in Syracuse for a 7:35 p.m. matchup against the Silver Knights.
