Frogs improve to 7-10 on the year.
The Green Bay Bullfrogs defeated the Madison Mallards last night 10-7. The Bullfrogs improve to 7-10 on the season and the Mallards drop to 7-10 the Bullfrogs and Mallards have split the season series 2-2.
The Bullfrogs held off a late rally attempt by the Mallards as the Ducks would score four in the bottom 9th to make things interesting for those that stuck around. The Frogs would get on the board early taking a lead and never giving it up. The Frogs would score three runs in the top of the second off RBI singles from Willie Bourbon, Bent Hart and Zack Shoemaker to give the Frogs a 3-0 lead. The Frogs would post three more in the third off of a Kyle Benyo three-run homerun. It was a four-run sixth that would be the difference. The Mallards would score four in the bottom of the ninth including a two-run shot from Mallards first baseman Angel Camacho.
Connor Wollersheim gets the win in the contest for the Bullfrogs pitching six innings allowing just one hit and walking four. Wollersheim would throw six strikeouts and now has a 0.95 ERA on the season which is good for ninth in the league, he’s now 3-0 on the season. Luke Matheny gets the loss for the Mallards, pitching three innings, allowing six hits and six runs.
Kyle Benyo is your Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the night. Benyo went 3-4 on the night and would smack his fourth homerun of the season. Benyo’s stat line: 3-4, 3 H, 1 HR, 1 2B, 3 R, 3 RBI. Benyo would also be named the Northwoods League Player of the night.
The Frogs are back in action this afternoon at Joannes Stadium against the Rockford Rivets.
