Energy Earn Resounding Victory Over Defending Champions

Sioux Falls, SD – The Iowa Energy (9-26) bounced back Tuesday evening with a resounding 122-93 road victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (22-14).

Iowa’s 29-point win over the defending D-League Champions was the team’s largest margin of victory this season.

Eight players finished in double figures for the Energy in a well-balanced scoring attack.

Cartier Martin and JaKarr Sampson led the team with 18 points apiece. Martin has now scored 15-plus points in 11 of his last 13 games. Sampson recorded his 18 points in 21 minutes of action off the bench.

Trailing 29-28 to end the first quarter, Iowa would outscore Sioux Falls 94-64 the rest of the way.

As a team, the Energy shot over 50 percent from the field while holding the Skyforce to just 36 percent. Iowa also shot a season-best 23-25 (92 percent) from the charity stripe.

Jarell Martin contributed 17 points and six rebounds in 30 minutes of action. Wayne Selden Jr. chipped in 15 points while Troy Williams added 13 points and six rebounds.

Quinton Chievous scored in double figures for the second straight game off the bench, finishing with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor.

Wade Baldwin IV recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Fellow Grizzlies assignee Deyonta Davis also had 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.

Keith Benson had a team-high 29 points on 13-of-16 shooting from the field and pulled down 13 rebounds in a losing effort for the Skyforce. The performance marked Benson’s sixth consecutive double-double.

The Energy will receive an eight day break for the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star break before hitting the hardwood on Thursday, Feb. 23 to take on the Salt Lake City Stars at home.
