MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University Athletics was 18-for-18 on Tuesday when the national office released the NAIA Scholar Teams for the 2016-17 season.
Indiana Wesleyan tied for seventh most NAIA Scholar Teams by any institution. It is a new record for the Wildcats as it bettered last year’s record performance of 17.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
Women’s basketball led Indiana Wesleyan with a team grade point average of 3.63. Women’s tennis had a 3.61 grade point average and volleyball was third with a 3.59 grade point average.
