HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men’s basketball team returns to the Millis Center this weekend to take on the Radford Highlanders in Big South action on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Purple & White earned a three-point road win at Radford earlier this season and will try to complete the season sweep on Saturday.

Tip in the game is set for 7 p.m. Kevin Burke will be on the call on the High Point Panthers Radio Network, with pre-game coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

PAW PRINTS
• High Point got back into the win column on Thursday with a 68-58 victory at Presbyterian College on Thursday. The win was the Panthers’ seventh in the past eight games. Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman led High Point with 16 on 7-11 shooting while seniors Tarique Thompson and Anthony Lindauer finished with 14 and 11 points respectively off the bench.

• HPU shared the ball well in the win over the Blue Hose with 16 assists on 25 made baskets. Sophomore Andre Fox led the Panthers with six assists, matching his career high that he set in the previous game against UNC Asheville. Freshman Jamal Wright had four assists and Lindauer picked up three assists.

• After missing two seasons with knee injuries, Bowman Jr. has emerged as one of the top players in the Big South. He is ninth in the league in scoring at 13.9 points per game and is averaging 15.7 points per game in conference play. The redshirt-senior ranks among the nation’s leaders in free throw shooting and rebounding and he leads the Big South with 11 double-doubles in 24 games. He is one of just 34 players in the nation to record at least 11 double-doubles this season.

• Despite ranking as one of the shortest teams in Div. I this season according to KenPom, High Point has been the top rebounding teams in the Big South since the start of league play. The Panthers have won the rebounding battle in 11-straight games and lead the Big South with a +6.4 rebounding margin in conference play. For the season, High Point has allowed just 31.9 rebounds per game, tops in the conference.

• The Panthers feature two players ranked in the top-10 in the Big South in rebounding. Bowman Jr. is ranked second in the Big South and 68th in the nation with 8.6 rebounds per game. Madison ranks ninth in the league with 6.0 rebounds per game.

• HPU has excelled in free throw shooting on the road, going 176-225 (.782). Overall, High Point ranks third in the Big South and 82nd in the nation in free throw percentage at .728 (367-503). Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman Jr., leads the Big South and is 17th in the nation in free throw percentage at .900 (81-90).

• Wright currently sits second in the Big South in assists per game (3.9) in his first collegiate campaign. He has 97 assists while committing just 58 turnovers and is also second in the conference with a 1.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. The freshman needs 25 more assists to crack the top-10 single-season assist totals in HPU program history.

HISTORY vs. RADFORD
High Point trails in the all-time series against Radford with a 20-22 record in 42 meetings. The Panthers picked up their third-straight win in the series earlier this season with a 61-58 win at Radford on Jan. 21. Redshirt-senior Miles Bowman led all scorers with a career-high 24 points in the win. The forward went 9-14 overall and 2-3 from behind the arc and scored 15 of his career-high 24 points in the second half. Sophomore Andre Fox was the only other HPU player in double figures with 11 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. The Highlanders’ last win over High Point came on Jan. 22, 2015 and their last win at the Millis Center came on Jan. 10, 2014 when they came to High Point and left with an 81-72 win.

HISTORY vs. OPPONENTS FROM VIRGINIA
High Point has complied a 77-71 (.517) record all-time against Div. I programs hailing from the Old Dominion State. HPU’s most common opponents are Radford (20-22, .476), Liberty (16-22, .421) and Longwood (21-7, .750). High Point is 57-51 (.528) against Big South programs from Virginia and 19-20 (.487) against the rest of the state’s Div. I teams. HPU is 1-3 against teams from Virginia this season with losses to Virginia Tech, Longwood and Liberty and a win at Radford.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE (5-18, 1-11 BIG SOUTH)
Radford is 10-15 overall and 5-8 in the Big South after beating Charleston Southern at home on Thursday. The Highlanders shot 14-26 on 3-pointers in the win over the Buccaneers and four different players hit at least two from behind the arc. Radford is third in the league in made 3-pointers per game, hitting 8.6 per contest. Justin Cousin leads the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game while Ed Polite Jr. is averaging 10.7 points and a league-best 9.4 rebounds per game. The Highlanders are first in the Big South in rebounding margin and are averaging a league-best 12.4 offensive rebounds per game.

UP NEXT
High Point heads back on the road for two-straight games starting with a Valentine’s Day matchup against Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The game against the Flames will be HPU’s third in six days. Tip in the game is set for 7 p.m.
