Monmouth’s Justin Schwenk named MAAC Men’s LaCrosse Rookie of the Week


EDISON, NJ – Monmouth University men’s lacrosse freshman midfielder Justin Schwenk (Royersford, PA / Spring-Ford) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Schwenk had a breakout performance for Monmouth in the Hawks’ 11-9 loss at Hofstra. The freshman faceoff man tied the program record with 15 faceoffs won, going 15-for-21 on the day. Schwenk became the second Monmouth player to win 15 faceoffs in one game, joining Keegan Teluk, who went 15-for-18 against Marist on March 19, 2016. Schwenk also scored his first collegiate goal and picked up eight ground balls in the game, which also tied the program record.

Monmouth hosts Wagner in its home opener at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
