BOSTON – Senior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) of the University of New Hampshire men’s basketball team was named America East Co-Player of the Week after averaging 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in two wins last week.
The senior claimed his second Co-Player of the Week honor this season after two wins over Maine (Feb. 15), 64-51, and Hartford (Feb. 18), 82-52.

Against Maine at home, Smith poured in 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists while shooting 8 of 18 from the field and hitting all four of his free throws. It was his first 20+ point game since Jan. 28 at UMBC. It was only the fourth time this season he recorded a stat line with 20+ points, 6+ assists and 8+ rebounds.
With Hartford in town, the senior tallied 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists on 8 of 15 shooting for his fifth double-double this season. He also recorded a block and an assist. He broke the program’s record for game played at 118. The scoring total also pushed him into sixth all-time in program history for career scoring at 1,390 points.
