Boyds, MD – The Washington Spirit has renewed its relationship with DC Stoddert Soccer as an official Youth Club Partner for the 2017 season. This marks the fourth consecutive year that DC Stoddert has joined the Spirit as a Youth Club Partner, continuing the relationship which began in 2014.
The partnership provides numerous benefits and exclusive opportunities for DC Stoddert Soccer members, including an interactive training session with Spirit professional players and coaches, the chance to attend an open practice with the Spirit first team, preferred access to youth experiences at Spirit home games and discounted season tickets for the club.
“We admire DC Stoddert for everything the club does to support and grow the game of soccer in the local community,” said Spirit President Chris Hummer. “We’re excited to have their support again, and look forward to another year of providing unique opportunities for their young players and coaches.”
Founded in 1977, DC Stoddert Soccer is celebrating 40-years in operation this season. The club has grown exponentially over the decades, and is now the largest youth soccer organization within the District.
“Our partnership with the Spirit provides a fantastic opportunity to expose players within our club to the highest level of women’s professional soccer,” said DC Stoddert Soccer Executive Director Jennifer Gootman. “Women’s professional soccer often takes a back seat, so the close access to high quality women’s soccer is crucial for young players to get an up-close view of the sport.”
“This strategic partnership with the Washington Spirit will give all our players direct access to the professional women’s game and inspire the next generation of DC Stoddert Soccer players to play smarter, harder and with spirit,” said DC Stoddert Technical Director Ben Mortimer.
