Fresh off his first NHL goal, Sanford set to join Bears in Bridgeport
Hershey, PA – The Washington Capitals have re-assigned forward Zach Sanford to the Hershey Bears hockey team. Sanford will join Hershey for the club’s game in Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon.
Sanford, 22, returns to Hershey after scoring his first NHL goal last night in Washington’s 6-4 win versus Anaheim. Sanford’s tally was the game-winning goal. The Salem, Mass., native has two points (one goal, one assist) in 21 games with Washington this season. Sanford was drafted by the Capitals in the second round, 61st overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Sanford has registered 14 points (nine goals, five assists) in 24 games with Hershey this season. The 6-foot-4, 203-pound forward made his AHL debut on Dec. 2 at Lehigh Valley and earned his first AHL point with a goal on Dec. 4 against Syracuse. Sanford recorded a career-high four points (two goals, two assists) on Dec. 11 against Rochester.
