Dear P-Nats Fans,
We would like to update you on the status of our continued relationship with Prince William County for the Potomac Nationals to play at Pfitzner Stadium.
This past Tuesday, October 17th, the Board of County Supervisors voted to amend the current lease to include two 1-year options to extend the stadium lease beyond December of 2018, effectively providing extensions through the end of 2020.
We are so appreciative of the action that the Board has taken, as it affirms the team’s ability to continue playing at Pfitzner Stadium. At the same time, it affords us the opportunity during this time to investigate other avenues that involve private financing for a new ballpark.
The team will now be asking Minor League Baseball for an extension to the waiver it previously imposed to allow the Potomac Nationals to continue playing baseball at Pfitzner Stadium even though the ballpark does not conform to acceptable standards. In recognition of our commitment in terms of time and funds, we are hopeful that Minor League Baseball will, in turn, extend the waiver through the 2020 season, in line with the new lease options.
We look forward to continuing to serve our fans in Virginia for many years to come. As always, thank you for your continued support.
We will provide updates on the status of a new stadium site as time passes.
