Bullfrogs Bounce Back with Win


Wis-The Green Bay Bullfrogs come away with a 4-2 win over the Wisconsin Woodchucks improving to 9-18 on the second half of the year. The Bullfrogs split the season series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks 4-4. Winning pitcher tonight for the Bullfrogs is Brett Fulk who would have an outstanding day for the Bullfrogs. Brett Fulk’s stat line: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. The Woodchucks fall to 9-20 on the season and sit at last in the south division.

The Bullfrogs would take an early lead in the game pouncing on Luke Hall of the Wisconsin Woodchucks with a three-run second inning. Zack Plunkett would hit a RBI double to get the scoring started and Connor Bagnieski would follow with a two-RBI single right after. The Bullfrogs would get some solid pitching from their starter Mason Schwellenbach throughout the early portion of the game, he pitched four and two-thirds of an inning allowing just two hits, four walks, and one run. Brett Fulk would come into a bases loaded bind in the fifth inning, with two outs on the board and strike out the lone batter he faced leaving the bases loaded. Fulk would go on to pitch solidly for the rest of the game. The Bullfrogs would manage to score an insurance run in the seventh inning when Troy Johnston hit a RBI double extending the Bullfrogs lead to 4-1. The Woodchucks would plate an unearned run against Brett Fulk in the ninth but it wouldn’t be enough as Fulk would force the last batter he faced to pop up ending the game with the Frogs winning 4-2.

The Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Player of the Game is Brett Fulk. Fulk has found himself in the zone his last couple appearances and in his last four appearances has an 11 to 3 strikeout to walk ratio. Fulk’s stat line tonight: 4.1 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 4 K and the WIN.

The Bullfrogs are back in action tomorrow in Rockford Illinois. The Bullfrogs will travel out to face off against the South Division leaders the Rivets for games seven and eight of the season series. It will be the last overnight trip for the Bullfrogs and they are 0-6 against the Rivets this season. First pitch is set for 7:05.
