David Hyland earns NAL Week 7 Defensive Player of the Week


Hyland returns to the Sharks with breakout performance

JACKSONVILLE –  The National Arena League announced on Wednesday that Sharks defensive back David Hyland earned Defensive Player of the Week for his standout performance against the Columbus Lions.

Hyland helped the Sharks (6-0) come out victorious during their closest game of the season with the score 37-28. Hyland racked up 9 tackles during the game and held the league’s leading receiver Michael Reeve to only 61 yards, his lowest output of the year.

This was the first game this season that Hyland has played with the Sharks. He previously played for the Sharks in 2016 and won ArenaBowl XXVIII with the San Jose Sabercats in 2015 where he was named Defensive Player of the Game and Playmaker of the Game.

For Hyland’s next game, he and the Sharks will face off against the Corpus Christi Rage (0-4) at the Shark Tank on Saturday, May 6 at 7 p.m. for Military Appreciation Night.
