Honkers Sign Two from Cal State Fullerton


Two Cal State Fullerton Titans make summer trip to Rochester

Rochester, Minn. – The Rochester Honkers announced today the signing of two Call State Fullerton players. Infielder Tristan Hildebrandt, and right handed pitcher Blake Workman will be joining the team for the 2017 Northwoods League season.

Tristan Hildebrandt is a 5-foot-9, 175 lb. junior from Yorba Linda, Calif. He finished his sophomore at Cal State Fullerton, playing in 50 games, starting in 30 of them. He tallied 21 hits, three doubles, and added one triple to the season. He finished the season with a .174 batting average and contributed 10 RBI’s.

Hildebrandt graduated from Esperanza High School, where he played four years on the varsity squad, and was the only freshman in school history to make varsity. He finished his senior season hitting .482, with 23 RBIs, four homeruns and was selected as the Team MVP and named Best Offensive Player in Century League. He was then selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 16th round, 495th overall pick in the 2014 First-Year MLB Player Draft. Tristan’s father, Vern Hildebrandt, played for the Minnesota Twins in 1986-1988.

Blake Workman is a 6-foot-2, 195 lb. sophomore from Ramona, Calif. As a freshman, he appeared in only four games but showed great promise going 1-0, recording three strikeouts and allowing six hits through 4.1 innings. As a senior in high school, he had a 6-5 record with a 1.43 ERA, 73 strikeouts in 68 innings, earning him Valley League Pitcher of the Year, Ramona Pitcher of the Year, and First Team All-League.

The Cal State Fullerton Titans make their season debut on February 17-19 at home against the Stanford Cardinals.

The Rochester Honkers 24th season begins on Tuesday, May 30th when the team hosts the Mankato Moondogs in their home opener at Mayo Field at 7:05 pm.
