Jarrett Burton Recalled to AHL Penguins


Forward Recorded 11 Points, While Wheeling Went 9-4-2 With Him in the Lineup

WHEELING, WV – The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. Forward Jarrett Burton has been recalled by the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Burton, 26, is playing in his third full season of professional hockey, which has been spent entirely in the organization with the Nailers and Penguins. Jarrett started the 2016-17 campaign with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, where he scored one goal in 13 games, before coming to Wheeling, where his productivity rose. The Echo Bay, Ontario native recorded four goals, seven assists, and 11 points in 15 games, as he helped the Nailers compile a 9-4-2 record with him in the lineup. Burton collected three multiple point games during that span, including a two-goal effort on January 28th in a 4-0 division win at home over Brampton. In his career, Jarrett has donned a Wheeling uniform on 113 occasions in the regular season, racking up 31 goals, 46 assists, and 77 points. He is one of ten members of this season’s team to spend time at both the AHL and ECHL levels.

The Nailers and Idaho Steelheads will wrap up their three-game series on Saturday night at 9:10. Wheeling will play three home games next week. On February 15th, it’s a WesBanco Winning Wednesday against Brampton at 7:05. On the 17th, Flat Screen Friday and Frosty Friday are the two promotions for a 7:35 game against Brampton. Finally, on Saturday the 18th, A Valley Divided – Steelers vs. Browns Night at 7:05 against Kalamazoo.
