FORT WORTH, TX – Texas Wesleyan University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Steve Trachier announced today the signing of Evie Whorely out of Kennedale High School.
“I am incredibly excited to have Evie join our program,” Trachier said. “Evie will be a third generation Texas Wesleyan student. She is outstanding in the classroom and an even better basketball player, earning multiple All-Region and All-State awards as well as being named to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram All-Area Super Team. More importantly, she was named Academic All-State. We are very lucky to have such an outstanding young woman in our program, and you can expect to see great things from Evie in a Ram uniform.”
Whorely is a 5’6″ combo guard. At Kennedale, she was named District 7-4A Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore and District Co-MVP in her junior and senior seasons. In addition she was named All-Region, All-State, and Fort Worth Star-Telegram All-Area Super Team as both a junior and senior. In her senior year she was named All-State by both the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC).
“I’m very excited to be joining the Ram Family,” Whorely said. “I’m looking forward to contributing my talent and experience from the Kennedale Lady Kats and AAU Lady Hornets. I just want to thank God, my family, coaches, and teammates for making me into the player I am today, and for all their support.”
The Lady Rams posted an overall record of 18-12 and a Sooner Athletic Conference record of 10-8 last season. The team featured three seniors including three-time NAIA All-American Katelynn Threats.
