Late Fink goal propels Energy FC to 2-1 win

Sam Fink scored the game-winning goal and Daniel Jackson tallied his first score of the preseason, as OKC Energy FC knocked off the Rogers State University Hillcats 2-1 Wednesday night at Speegle Stadium on the campus of Capitol Hill High School.

In the 86th minute, OKC’s Luis Martinez sent a shot off a free kick that was knocked away by Rogers State keeper Cody Gammill, but Fink followed the play and batted a header past Gammill for what would be the game’s deciding goal. The goal was Fink’s first as a member of the Energy and marked the fourth goal scored in the 2017 preseason by a player in his first season with OKC.

Jackson opened the scoring for Energy FC in the 16th minute, when he took a feed from Juan Pablo Guzman near midfield and streaked past a Hillcats defender before punching a shot past a charging Gammill for a 1-0 OKC lead.

Rogers State tied the game in the 50th minute, when Kevin Kwarteng picked up a loose ball in the OKC defensive third and lofted a chip shop past Energy FC keeper Jacob Lissek.

Energy FC’s next preseason match is Sunday, Feb. 19, when the club takes on FC Cincinnati of the USL in a 2:30 p.m. CST at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
