Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Distinction

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Vermont men’s and women’s cross country teams have been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as Division I All-Academic Teams, announced recently by the USTFCCCA.

The Vermont women posted a 3.5 team grade point average en route to the award, while the men’s squad posted a 3.2 mark as a group. Overall, there were 431 teams that captured recognition (242 women, 189 men). In order to receive selection as a Division I All-Academic Team, a minimum collective GPA of 3.0 is required.

Five other America East men’s and women’s teams (Albany, Binghamton, New Hampshire, Stony Brook, UMBC) each joined the Catamounts on the respective lists.

At last October’s America East Championships, UVM finished fourth on women’s side and the men took home fifth as a team. Patrick Coppinger, Autumn Albrecht and Samantha Sayer earned All-Conference mention, preceding All-Academic laurels from the conference for Will Hopkins, Anna Kaplan and Sayer.
