Monmouth’s Nick Hreshko named MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

EDISON, NJ – Monmouth University men’s lacrosse senior goalkeeper Nick Hreshko (Warrington, PA / La Salle College HS) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Hreshko backstopped Monmouth to its seventh-consecutive road victory with a career-high 15 saves in Monmouth’s victory over No. 16 Villanova, this past Saturday. Hreshko, behind Monmouth’s defensive unit, stifled the Wildcats’ potent offense by holding them to 10 goals on 49 shots, 25 of which were on goal. The senior’s 15 saves marked the fourth time in Monmouth history a goalie has stopped 15 shots and were the most since Garrett Conaway made 15 saves at Detroit on April 11, 2015.

The victory was Monmouth’s first ever against a nationally ranked opponent.

Monmouth travels to Hempstead, NY this Saturday, Feb. 18, for a 12 p.m. matchup with Hofstra.
