So itâ€™s not exactly a surprise that the Sporting KC manager was less than thrilled with the US menâ€™s national teamâ€™s apparent lack of desire in Tuesdayâ€™s 2-1 loss at Trinidad & Tobago that bounced the Americans from the World Cup.
â€œI thought the performance on the field, for a final game like that and everything that you were going for, that game was not representative of a US team on the field â€“ not the way they played,â€� Vermes, who played for the US at the 1990 World Cup, told The Kansas City Star on Wednesday. â€œIt didnâ€™t have the intensity, didnâ€™t have the desire, the hunger, the fight. It was not good enough. Thatâ€™s it. Thatâ€™s all I can tell you.â€�
