Stampede acquire forward Cavanagh from Dubuque and Draft Pick


Sioux Falls, SD — The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Monday that they have acquired forward Dubuque forward Regen Cavanagh (REE-gehn Kav-uh-NAV), a third round pick in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft and future considerations in exchange for Eric MacAdams.

Cavanagh has skated in 39 games with the Fighting Saints this season, posting 19 points on 8 goals and 11 assists. Two of his eight goals have come on the power play and he holds an even plus/minus rating. The Chesapeake, VA native spent last season skating with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he recorded 28 points (12g, 16a) in 45 games. The right-handed shot stands at 5-foot-10 and 174 pounds and is eligible to return to Sioux Falls next season.

The Herd also acquired Dubuque’s third round draft choice in the upcoming 2017 USHL Phase II Draft as well as future considerations which is a player to be named after the season.

MacAdams skated in 94 career games with the Stampede. Last season, the Salem, MA native appeared in 51 games, posting 18 points (10g, 8a). This season, MacAdams skated in 43 games and recorded 20 points (11g, 9a). He has already committed to play collegiate hockey next season at the University of New Hampshire.

Cavanagh is expected to join the Stampede this week for practice and is scheduled to make his debut this Friday when the Herd travel to Kearney, NE to face the Tri-City Storm at 7:05 PM. The Herd will travel to Lincoln on Saturday to face the Stars inside the Ice Box. Fans can catch both games on KELO News Talk 1320-AM and online at starting at 6:40 PM.
