Stampede Weekly Update: Wiener Dog Races this Saturday

The 10th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic Wiener Dog Races are this Saturday night at the PREMIER Center! Doors open at 6 PM and the fun begins at 7:05 PM. 40 dogs will compete, but only one will be grand champion! The first intermission will feature two races with the top two dogs from each race advancing to the final four during the second intermission. Last year “Lily” was crowned champion, who will win the biggest race of them all? A few spots still remain, click here for registration info and for ticket information that benefits Dakota Dachshund Rescue.

For the first time ever the Stampede will be wearing special Wiener Dog themed jerseys for the game this Saturday night. Fans can purchase raffle tickets during the game for a chance to take home a game worn jersey right after the game. Half of the jerseys will be pulled during the first intermission and the rest of them during the second intermission. The Stampede will also have four other jerseys available through a silent auction that will end at the start of the third period. Proceeds from the raffle will be going to Dakota Dachshund Rescue and the Stampede Foundation for Kids Program.

The first 1,000 fans through the doors on Saturday will receive a free Wiener Dog Race doggie cup that can be used to measure dog food or humans can use it for their favorite cold beverage! The cups are compliments from our great partners at Sioux Nation Pet Clinic.

Prior to Wiener Dog Night, the Herd will travel to Waterloo on Friday to face the Waterloo Black Hawks who sit in second place in the West (27-12-4) just one point behind first place Sioux City. The Herd enter the weekend with a 16-20-6 mark and are 2-2-1 against the Black Hawks, including a 3-2 overtime win at Waterloo on January 21st. Friday will mark the final meeting of the season between the Stampede and the Hawks.
