Swimming and Diving: Nevada seeks to defend Mountain West Championship

RENO, Nev. – Following the program’s first Mountain West Championship a year ago, the Nevada swimming and diving team will travel to College Station, Texas seeking to defend its title. The four-day event is scheduled to take place Feb. 15-18.

Action for each day will begin in the morning with preliminary events and will conclude in the evening with finals. Live video and results are available at the meet’s central page on theMW.com.

In each of the past three seasons, the Pack has finished in the top three of the MW Championships, placing third in 2014-15 and claiming its first title in 2016. Throughout this event, Nevada will pursue its second MW Championship in as many years as well as its 11th overall conference title in program history.

At last year’s conference championship, Nevada accumulated 664 points, squeezing out the narrow victory over Boise State by just 13 points. The 664 points Nevada earned set a program record for most points at the MW Championships.

The Wolf Pack’s regular successful regular season consisted of a dual record 6-1, which included a winning streak of 16 dual meets that dated back to the 2015-16 season. Both the swimming and diving teams each won an invitational this season as well, with the swimming team coming out on top of the UNLV Swimming Invitational (Dec. 1-3) and the diving squad taking the top spot in the NAU Diving Invitational (Nov. 18-19). In total, the Pack has won a MW weekly award eight times this season.

Following the conference championships, the Pack will set its eyes on NCAA competition with the NCAA Zone E Diving Regionals March 6-8 and the NCAA Championships March 15-17 in Indianapolis, Ind.
