SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Samford’s Emmanuel Tait was honored by the Southern Conference on Monday as the Bulldogs’ true freshman track and field standout was named the league’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Month, it was officially announced by the conference’s headquarters.

Tait’s month of April was highlighted by his performances in the 110-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash at the South Alabama Invitational on April 15. Samford’s standout native of Alabaster, Alabama, posted a SoCon-leading time of 14.24 in the 110-meter hurdles, earning a third-place finish in the event.

In the 100-meter dash, Tait claimed first place with a time of 10.50 seconds, which is currently the third-best time in the conference this outdoor season. With his time of 10.50 seconds in the 100-meter dash, Tait shaved nearly half of second from his performance at the Tiger Track Classic the week prior to the South Alabama Invitational.

Tait and the Samford University track and field teams will next be in action this Thursday and Friday as the Bulldogs compete in the 2017 SoCon Outdoor Championships. Samford will be hosting the must-see event this season at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
