Travel Channel's showcase of Jumbo Shrimp premieres Sunday

“Food Paradise” finds the must-see spots across the country that have a one-of-a-kind dining experience. In September, the show came to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville to highlight unique items on the inaugural Jumbo Shrimp ballpark menu, conducting interviews with Jumbo Shrimp Manager Randy Ready, outfielder John Norwood, General Manager Harold Craw, Director of Food & Beverage and Executive Chef Ernest Hopkins, and Jumbo Shrimp fans.

The episode will also air at 12 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m. Dec. 2, and 3 p.m. Dec. 17. Future airings of the “Minor League Baseball” episode are listed here.

“We are thrilled that the Travel Channel chose to feature the Jumbo Shrimp and Jacksonville on ‘Food Paradise,'” said Jumbo Shrimp General Manager Harold Craw. “A national audience will see the special atmosphere the people of Northeast Florida are creating at the Baseball of Grounds of Jacksonville.”

 

In the Jumbo Shrimp’s inaugural season, a shrimp theme fills the ballpark menu, featuring more than a dozen shrimp options – including Boom Boom Shrimp, Torpedo Shrimp, Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp Po’ Boy, Shrimp Tacos and Shrimp Cocktail – and the new Bold City Burger Pie, a grilled one-pound beef patty, covered with two slices of pepper jack cheese, and served between two eight-inch pepperoni pizzas. Fans this season also had the Enormous Shareable Pretzel, Nachos in a Souvenir Helmet, Chicken Bites in a Waffle Cone, Pork & Slaw Dog and the Philly Grilled Cheese. Renamed before the 2016 season, the concessions stands have local themes – including Sweet Tea-bowSouthern Fried, All American JAX, and Singh for Your Supper. Named by a season ticket holder contest in March, the Wheelhouse suite-level lounge – open to all fans – also serves specialty items in a full menu.

Throughout the summer, “Food Paradise” traveled to Minor League ballparks – including Canal Park, the home of the Akron RubberDucks, under the same Fast Forward Sports Group ownership as the Jumbo Shrimp – to showcase unique food items in Minor League Baseball.
