PITTSBURG, Kan. – The UMKC track and field teams competed on day one of the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Friday afternoon with one Roo bringing home the gold.
Hanna Miller (Savannah, Mo.) won the women’s 600 yard with a new PR of 1:24.27. Her time was the second fastest in UMKC history.
Justin Martin qualified for the finals in the men’s 60M after he posted the second fastest time in qualifying with a new personal record of 6.88. Martin also placed 10th in the men’s 200M with a new indoor track PR of 21.82
Christopher Bryan (St. Catherine, Jamaica) placed third in the men’s long jump with a distance of 23’ 0.5’’.
David Chappelle (Dallas, Texas) tied for sixth in the men’s high jump with a height of 5’ 11.25”
Christy Nell (Cape Town, South Africa) placed fourth in the women’s pole vault, with Mara Meneely (Kirkwood, Mo.) placing fifth with a new PR of 10’ 6.25”.
Saturday’s events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the women’s 3,000M.
